Volunteering for Sunrise EquiTherapy has been one of the most inspiring opportunities of my life.  I have been around horses all my life.  Horsemanship has come naturally to me.  I jumped at the chance of sharing my knowledge and enjoyment with the clients at Sunrise.  I had no idea the gains I could bring to others as well as myself. 
The individual's I worked with taught me about not taking life's gifts for granted.  The most inspiring part of working with the individual clients at Sunrise was to see how their personalities developed as they gained trust and confidence through working with the horses. 

I saw a young girl who was shy and timid turn into a cantering smiling teenager.  She blossomed from riding with a concentrated scowl on her face to laughing and smiling for the whole lesson. I also saw a young man go from a shy quiet boy to a young man willing to let his needs and wants be known rather than just silently trying to overcome.  This young man also progressed from walking around the arena to loping with confidence. 

I am glad that I was able to have the opportunity and will continue to have the opportunity to continue to work with clients who can teach others how to overcome life's challenges and push their limits to become their best with the aid of a few volunteers and a wonderful companion, the horse.
