One of Sunrise EquiTherapy's special riders is 7 year old Valerie who was unable to walk, is nonverbal and has seizures. Since riding with Sunrise she has started to walk with assistance and her balance has improved as well as her trunk strength. Her communications skills have improved through her strong connection with her horse as she moves a set of bells. This is her way of saying "Walk on"! Her family will never be able to cheer for her as she plays soccer or clap at the end of a piano or dance recital, but they can smile because Valerie CAN ride a horse and for a few minutes of the day she is free from her disability. She is happy and she giggles.
