Sunrise EquiTherapy | Day Camps

Day Camps are for groups of 5 to 10 and are held on a Saturday in the spring and fall.

Day Camp consists of various centers. Individuals are divided into small groups and rotate from one center to the next. Centers can consist of, but are not limited to,

  • History of the horse
  • Grooming, why and how, hands on demonstration
  • Explanation of different tack and how to care for it
  • Care of the horse, feeding, hoof care, veterinarian, mucking stalls (hands on!)
  • Trip to the hay field to see how hay is baled and how heavy a bale can be
  • Bluebird trail experience
  • Demonstration of English and Western riding
  • Riding experience
  • Lunch to be arranged
  • Culminating activity, hand outs to reinforce the concepts learned, group photos, each individual (depending on age) draws a horse with chalk on black paper. Drawings are laminated and displayed in the arena.

Day Camps are designed according to the ages of the group who attends. Some individuals may choose not to ride.

Groups who have attended Day Camps are Cedars Youth Services, and Immanuel Rehabilitation Recreation of Omaha.

Requirements:
