Our Mission is to... provide equine assisted activities and therapy in a non-clinical setting for individuals of all ages with cognitive, physical and emotional disabilities.

History
Sunrise EquiTherapy, Inc. was founded in 1998 and is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. Sunrise is affiliated with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH International ) who sets our guidelines and standards plus certifies instructors.

Services
Our program serves children, adolescents and adults with special needs. Services are based on an individualized plan with specific goals/objectives that are measurable and observable. Lessons will be held year around utilizing the new facility's indoor and outdoor arenas and sensory trails which add a new dimension to lessons. Lessons are held once a week in six week sessions. Therapy horses are specially trained and are assigned to clients as determined by their specific needs.

Disabilities Served
Sunrise EquiTherapy serves individuals with various diagnosis such as Autism, Aspergers, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delays, Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, Visual/Hearing Impairments, Mental Retardation, Schizophrenia, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, ADD, Down Syndrome, Spinal Bifida, Emotional Disabilities, Amputation, Muscular Dystrophy, as well as those considered "At Risk" as well as many other diagnosis.

Instructors/Volunteers
Our staff includes four instructors certified through PATH International and CHA. Healthcare professionals as well as special education teachers assist as consultants and instructors. Trained volunteers assist the clients as needed. They make up of the team that helps the instructor implement and evaluate the weekly lessons. Volunteers help with scheduling, fundraising, horse training, facility upkeep, newsletters, special events, photography, etc.

Riderships (scholarships), Day Camp fees, curriculum, therapy horse care/boarding, equipment, insurance, special events, awards, volunteer training are just a few areas that are in need of financial support. Sunrise EquiTherapy depends on donations, lesson fees, grants, fund raising events and sponsorships in order to continue our important mission. How you can help.
